The Illinois Railway Museum begins its 2007 operating season on April 1. The Museum is located in Union, Illinois, northwest of Chicago near I-90, and conveniently located near Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee and Rockford.

During April the Museum grounds and barns will be open to visitors on weekends beginning April 1. Electric cars will operate only on Sundays in April on our demonstration railroad, which includes a one-mile trolley loop around the property and a five-mile mainline.

In May, weekend train operation will include electric and steam or diesel passenger trains. During May weekdays through May 25 the buildings and grounds will be open to visitors, with weekday electric car operation beginning on May 29.

Daily train operation continues through Labor Day weekend, with weekend operation through the end of October, with the grounds open on weekdays through September. Additional trains run on several Special Event weekends during the year.

Your admission ticket entitles you to an unlimited number of train rides, as well as our several barns with over two miles of indoor track, and our collection of over 400 pieces of railroad rolling stock. Your membership includes admission to the Museum, a subscription to Rail & Wire, and more.

The Illinois Railway Museum is an independent volunteer operation, relying on admission fees, membership dues, and contributions. It is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational corporation. Schedules and operating equipment subject to change without notice.
