Join the members of the Illinois Railway Museum in a train STRAIGHT OUT OF THE 70s when disco was sweeping over the nation and big hair was in style as we tour the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L lines. We'll ride CTA's historically-painted 2400-series cars on our excursion that will cover the north, south, west, and northwest sides of the city. These cars were retired from regular passenger service on October 31, 2014, after 38 years of loyal service. The cars we'll be riding are even restored to their original Bicentennial-inspired livery. As an added bonus, for those who dress the part of the 1970s, you will be eligible for a special prize.
Departure: 8:45 am from the Dempster St.-Skokie terminal on the Yellow Line (Skokie Swift). Parking is available in the Park & Ride lots for $2-3.
Fare: $50.00 per person. Orders received after March 25 will be held for pickup at Dempster-Skokie terminal. All ticket sales are final, no exchanges or refunds. Only 140 tickets will be sold, and if any remain on the day of the trip, the fare will be $55.00.
Lunch: One hour will be given for lunch on your own at stops around the Loop; a list of suggested restaurants will be provided.
This trip will conclude at Dempster/Skokie terminal about 6:00 pm. We may be able to accomodate earlier stops upon request.
