Union Pacific Railroad 150th Anniversary celebration
and Family Day at IRM, June 9th, 2012

On June 9th, 2012, the Illinois Railway Museum will be hosting the Union Pacific Railroads 150th Anniversary celebration for the Chicago Service Unit employees and their families. All UPRR employees and their immediate families will have free admission with a railroad ID, however, it is highly recommended that you register with your units management so that an accurate head count can be obtained for UP employee/family specific activies that are being planned for this day.

The Leviathan is scheduled to operate on June 9th, along with a separate Railway Post Office (RPO) train demonstrating on-the-fly mail pickups. The Chicago and Northwestern bilevels will be operating. Additional equipment will be on display as well.

Equipment displays
  • Union Pacific 18 (GTEL) will be open for cab tours
  • Chicago and Northwestern 6847 (SD40-2)
  • Additional Union Pacific equipment TBD
