Funds are still needed to pay off its trackspace debt. Currently, there are no plans to work on this locomotive because of the extensive list of problems. The engine was swapped from a SD45 before leaving the Santa Fe, this engine (obviously the bad one) suffered from freeze damage.

Some other problems include: All the wheels are junk, worn beyond operable limits for road service; the air compressor is missing a cylinder, the piston is there hanging by its rod, but no cylinder liner and head; As with all EMD turbocharged engines, this one will need batteries if/when all these other repairs are done.

Have a look at the background of the Santa Fe Warbonnets.

How do I make a contribution? The museum is a 501(C)(3) charitable organization.
