2407 arrived at Union in October 1996, from Green Bay, Wisconsin. This 2400 horsepower Alco RSD-15, otherwise known as Alligators, was built in 1959, and was part of the second order of RSD-15's for the Santa Fe. There were few minor differences between the first and second orders, the only major cosmetic difference being the placement of the main reservoir air tanks. The first order, AT&SF numbers 800-823, placed both tanks on the engineers side as shown in the drawing below. The second order of the 800 series, number 824 and up, placed one tank on each side of the carbody. Our unit, originally numbed AT&SF 841, is complete and was last run in 1989.
