05.28.08 - CSDX-39 - CHICAGO SANITARY DISTRICT DUMP CAR.  THE CAR HAS A HANDBRAKE THAT HAS RUSTED AND IS INOPERABLE.

06.01.08 - THE FIVE RIVETS THAT SECURE THE TWO HOUSING PARTS ARE BEING DRILLED OUT SO THAT THE HOUSING CAN BE REPAIRED.  TO THE LEFT OF THE ELECTRIC DRILL, THE RUSTED OUT SECTION OF THE HOUSING IS VISIBLE.  THE HANDBRAKE LOCK SHAFT, THE ROUND PART TO THE LOWER LEFT OF THE DRILL, HAS WORN THE HOUSING OUT.  A BUSHING WAS CREATED AND WELDED INPLACE TO CORRECT THIS. THE SHAFT FOR THE GEAR TO THE RIGHT OF THE ELECTRIC DRILL, WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE GEAR INSIDE, IS FROZEN TO THE GEAR WITH CORROSION.

06.29.08 - WES LLOYD NOTICED THAT THE NIPPLE TO THE RETAINER VALVE WAS BROKEN.  NO AIR WAS LEAKING FROM THE BROKEN NIPPLE.  WHEN THE NIPPLE AND THE STREET ELL TO THE RETAINER WERE REMOVED, THEY WERE PLUGGED BY MUD DAUBBER NESTS.  WHEN THE BROKEN PIECES WERE REPLACED, THE BRAKES WORKED PROPERLY.  THE LAST TIME THE CAR WAS RUN, THERE WAS AN AIR LEAK AND THE CAR WAS BAD ORDERED.  THE WASP NESTS, BUILT AFTER THE BREAK OCCURRED, HID THE DEFECT.
