North Chicago - September 1956 - Frank Hicks (FrankHicks)
Description
:
IT 277 is shown on the grounds of the Chicago Hardware Foundry in North Chicago, IL, the original home of the Illinois Railway Museum (then known as the Illinois Electric Railway Museum), in September 1956. Taken only a few months after its arrival, it is coupled to fellow IT car 101, shown on the left. To the right is the body of North Shore snow sweeper 3, which was used by IRM as a shop and was scrapped when the museum moved to Union in 1964. The 277 still wears the blue and silver livery it ended service with. Glenn Andersen photo from the Krambles-Peterson Archive, posted to www.irm.org with permission.
