Switching - September 2007 - Frank Hicks (FrankHicks)
Description
:
Wisconsin Electric Power (ex-Milwaukee Electric) L4 is used to move the New York subway cars into Yard 8 on Member's Day 2007 while CTA 3142 heads onto the tail track in the background. The "turret" on the locomotive's hood originally held an extension cord, attached to the orange "hot stick" hanging on the side of the cab, which allowed the locomotive to operate on tracks without overhead wire. Similar locomotive L7 has been operated at IRM using this method. Note that the notorious 7/8 wire frog has struck again.
