The Hall Signal Company was based in the New York City area and was purchased by Union Switch & Signal in 1925. This Hall semaphore signal was one of the earliest to be electrically powered, rather than mechanically moved by a signalman. It uses an electric motor in the base that moves the semaphore blade via a shaft running through the mast.
