Equipment Information
Santa Fe 60394 is a stock car, a ventilated car designed for carrying livestock like cattle, sheep, or pigs from rural areas to stockyard and slaughterhouse complexes in large cities. It is one of very few standard-gauge stock cars still in existence and was the very last active stock car on the Santa Fe roster. In the early 20th century, thousands of cars like this one were used to bring livestock to the Chicago Stockyards and other meatpacking facilities across the country for slaughtering.
