Belt Railway of Chicago 223 is a transfer caboose, a type of caboose designed for use with freight trains going short distances between nearby railroad yards. It was used on the BRC system in and around Chicago.

FUN FACT: The BRC emblem on the side of caboose 223 is a pictogram: a literal belt, complete with buckle, surrounds a prominent Y, which is the municipal device of the City of Chicago (the three legs representing the North, South, and Main Branches of the Chicago River).
