CB&Q 1554 is a class BA-15 all-steel heavyweight baggage car. Cars like this were hauled in passenger trains and were used for carrying passengers’ luggage, express freight, and other less-than-car-load (LCL) shipments. This car was reassigned to maintenance-of-way (MOW) service in 1967, first on the CB&Q and then later on the Burlington Northern.
