Milwaukee Road 97054 is an “Airslide” covered hopper built to transport bulk dry goods such as grain or sand. It was built with fabric membranes lining its interior that allowed compressed air to aerate the car’s contents and help in unloading the contents out the bottom of the car. It is the only covered hopper preserved at IRM.
