NP 230 is a streamlined baggage car. Cars like this were hauled in passenger trains and were used for carrying passengers’ luggage, express freight, and other less-than-car-load (LCL) shipments.
FUN FACT: The two-tone green and while color scheme carried by this car, known by the NP as the “Pine Tree” livery, was designed by industrial designer Raymond Loewy. Loewy is responsible for many iconic designs including the color scheme used on Air Force One.
