Southern 10, the “Susan Marie,” is a heavyweight steel private car. Originally built by Pullman as a heavyweight, it was heavily rebuilt by the Southern Railway at their Hayne Shops in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in 1948. It became an office car, a mobile office and living quarters for one of the railway’s managers. It was sold by the railroad in 1975, named “Susan Marie” by its new owner, and converted into a private railroad car that its owner could use for personal luxury transportation. Its interior features a lounge, dining area, kitchen, and bedrooms.
