Equipment Information

Wisconsin Central Railway 57 is a wood-bodied coach. It was built in 1905 as part of an order for 10 coaches. In 1909, the WCRy was leased to the Soo Line, and in its later years this car was operated by the latter railroad. It was used to carry passengers over the Soo Line system, primarily in Wisconsin and Minnesota, until it was retired and assigned to work service in 1936. In 1955, it was placed on a siding in Allenton, Wisconsin, to serve as a temporary depot while a new depot was being built. It remained stored in Allenton until it was acquired by IRM in 1972.
