The Museum is open for Bunny Trolley Hop.

Opening Day set for April 11th

The Illinois Railway Museum is opening for its 2021 season starting Sunday, April 11th. During the remainder of April the Museum will be open on Sundays only. Electric trains will be in operation on these days and all exhibit buildings will be open. The Museum will also be open for additional dates in May. A full list of dates can be found on the Museum’s calendar at www.irm.org/calendar.

The Museum is committed to taking all necessary steps to maintain the health and safety of visitors, members, and staff. To this end, policies and procedures related to health and safety that were put in place in 2020 are still in effect. These are listed at www.irm.org/hours-admission. Advance purchase of tickets is required in order to conform to capacity limits and visitors are encouraged to reserve tickets early. Tickets for dates in April will go on sale in mid-March at tickets.irm.org.

The Bunny Trolley Hop event has been cancelled for 2021 because of the hands-on nature of most of that event’s activities and the difficulty in holding it in a socially-distanced manner. The Museum hopes to run many of its regular special events later in the summer. More information on specific events will be announced on the Museum website later in the spring.
