Equipment Information
Amtrak 15002 is a standard railroad flat car used by Amtrak in maintenance-of-way service. It uses a single-piece cast frame built for the Pennsylvania Railroad by General Steel Casting and it was assembled at the PRR’s Pitcairn Shop into a class F30A flat car in the 473765-475264 series. It was used by the PRR for general freight service, later going to Penn Central and then to Amtrak. Later in its career, it was modified with a wider steel deck and short sides for use in maintenance-of-way service.
