Internal Combustion Locomotives
Chicago & Illinois Midland 30
Description: | Diesel-Electric RS-1325 |
Equipment Information
Chicago & Illinois Midland 30 is an RS-1325 diesel freight locomotive designed as a “road switcher” for general freight train service. Only two RS-1325 locomotives were ever built, both for the C&IM. This locomotive was used, mostly in coal train service, in central Illinois until 2016. At that time the new owner of the C&IM, Genesee & Wyoming, transferred the locomotive to the Atlantic & Western in North Carolina. The locomotive finished its career on the A&W and was donated to IRM by Genesee & Wyoming in 2023.
