Chicago & North Western 7009 is the only preserved example of an SD50 diesel freight locomotive. This model was built in La Grange, Illinois, through most of the 1980s by EMD, with over 400 examples being constructed. C&NW 7009 was sold to a locomotive leasing company in 2001 and retired from active service in 2006.
