Equipment Information

South Shore Line 8 is a heavyweight steel interurban coach built for service between Chicago and South Bend. It was part of the line’s first order for steel cars and is the oldest passenger car from the railroad preserved at IRM. It was used for more than 55 years and was not retired until the early 1980s.
