Description:Arch-roof aluminum PCC

Equipment Information

Chicago Transit Authority 6655 is an aluminum-bodied PCC type ‘L’ car that was built using recycled components from retired CTA streetcars. Car 6655 is permanently coupled to identical car 6656 to form a “married pair” set.

FUN FACT: For the bicentennial in 1976, the CTA painted several sets of ‘L’ cars in patriotic colors and gave them names commemorating Revolutionary War figures or events. Cars 6655-6656 were named after George Rogers Clark, a Brigadier General in the Continental Army nicknamed the “Conqueror of the Old Northwest” who led a force that captured and defended vast expanses of territory in the Ohio, Wabash, and Mississippi Valleys that had formerly been held by the British.
