Description:TM Tank Car

Equipment Information

DODX 12661 is a tank car built to carry as much as 10,000 gallons of liquid, generally oil or other petroleum products. It is typical of mid-century all-welded tank car construction.

FUN FACT: Tank car 12661 got its “fifteen minutes of fame” on the small screen in 2013 when it was used during filming of an episode of the TV show Chicago Fire. The car was (gently) laid on its side to simulate a wrecked freight car that, naturally, would have exploded if not for the heroic efforts of the show’s stars.
