Dardanelle & Russellville 14 is one of the oldest preserved locomotives built by Electro-Motive in LaGrange, Illinois. It is also the only surviving SC type locomotive. It is a diesel switching locomotive designed to move freight cars around railroad yards at low speed and is powered by a Winton 201A diesel engine (“prime mover”), the same type that powered the Pioneer Zephyr.

COMPARE ME WITH: Burlington 9255, an SW7 switcher that outwardly looks similar to D&R 14 but was built 13 years later. Winton 201A-powered switchers like 14 are direct ancestors to the SW7, a popular design of which nearly 500 examples were built.
