URTX 26640 is an insulated boxcar built for transporting temperature-sensitive food products. Unlike a refrigerated boxcar, or “reefer,” it is not designed to cool its contents using ice or mechanical means. Like many similar cars, it was owned by a company which leased it out to railroads and industrial customers.
